Hello there. I’m a psychiatrist and addiction medicine physician. Since finishing my psychiatric residency at Stanford in 1996, I have maintained a private practice in Los Altos, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto, all California. In addition to private practice, which can be somewhat isolating, I’ve held many local positions, at Stanford, county clinics, private agencies, the federal government, residential treatment programs, and intensive outpatient programs. I worked part-time for eleven years at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, where I co-founded the buprenorphine clinic, treating opiate dependence and other substance disorders in veterans. In 2019 I left my VA position and took a new one just up the road, at the Camden Center when it was in Menlo Park, again working as a psychiatrist and substance abuse physician. Since leaving Camden, I have been working solely in private private practice, but I also continue teaching (mostly second and first-year medical students) in the Stanford University School of Medicine, where my title is Clinical Assistant Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
This simple website represents my private practice. I can also be found via Psychology Today.
I was initially board-certified by the American College of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2003, then by the American Society of Addiction Medicine in 2014, and most recently I re-boarded again in Addiction Medicine in 2021 (through 2030).
